Dear Mrs. Sander:

Moishey was very quiet today after lunch. He cried a bit, telling us he wanted Totty. Since this is not his typical behavior we were concerned that he might not be feeling well. He did not exhibit any symptoms of illness so we did not call you. We hope that he’ll be fine.

Morah Pnina

Dear Morahs:

Moishey had a fever of 104 degrees shortly after he arrived home from school. We just returned from the pediatrician and the diagnosis is that Moishey has a virus.

Please don’t feel guilty about Moishey’s odd behavior on Monday; he was most likely not ill yet, but something was already brewing.

Sincerely,

Sarah Sander

Dearest Morah Penina:

Thank you for a wonderful PTA/IEP meeting.

I told all my family members that we are to have very high expectations of Moishey and that Morah Peninah foresees a brilliant future for him. I hope it will work!

Wednesday:

Good news. Moishey had a good day!

Up Syndrome to the Morahs:

When Moishey came off the bus on Tuesday, I asked my usual question: “Moishey, how was school?”

Moishey: I didn’t behave in gym. I was King Pharoah.

I asked him, ‘So what happened?”

Moishey: I had to sit on the bench.

Should I laugh or cry?

Weekend Update:

Moishey finally agreed to attend Shabbos afternoon ‘Bnos’ with the local special needs children, after many months of adamantly refusing to go.

When the 2 chaperones brought him back home (I was napping) they said that Moishey behaved like a real tzaddik. My husband was very pleased and promised Moishey a goody very soon.

My husband went to the bathroom and lo and behold Moishey pulled a chair up to the freezer, took out a half gallon container of ice cream, took cones out of the pantry, in addition to a plastic knife with which he scraped and kratzed the ice cream, and he got to work on our white Shabbos tablecloth. When my husband reappeared after around 5 minutes of absence, he found Moishey sitting at work and chocolate ice cream all over the table. My husband was very upset and lectured Moishey on not doing such things by himself. Little Yitty (who is three and a half going on 35…) piped up, “Tati, don’t you know that you’re not supposed to leave Moishey alone in a room for such a long time?!?”

Out of the mouth of babes…

Dear Mrs. Sander,

Thanks so much for the lovely flower arrangement you sent to my daughter’s vort. The flowers truly enhanced our Simcha.

Reba

Today was not one of Moishey’s ‘good’ days.

I’m so sorry; I guess Moishey wanted to see whether he can really bring you to the edge and see if there is a ‘shvigger’ side to you.

When he came home he reported to my toddler daughter that Morah Reba put soap on his tongue because he was spitting. I am so disappointed in him. I hope today will be a better day.

I put a tiny bit of pepper on Moishey’s tongue yesterday because of the spitting, which he did several times. He was so apologetic on his own* this morning. As soon as he came to class he said “I apologize”.

I’m so glad that he is able to ‘report’ to you at home.

He does report back very well and what irks me is that he makes sure to report his bad behavior in minute detail. Is it pride or guilt?

*I hope you’re not disappointed if I admit that I demanded that he apologize to you. I am, however, happy to see that what I tell him at 6:30 a.m. when he’s so sleepy-eyed, really stays on his mind and he carries it out.

Dear Parents,

Another week has quickly gone by. Besides our reading and math program we are learning about ourselves and our families. During circle time we love to talk about special things that happen to us and our families. We found that we have many more children with brown eyes than blue eyes. Our Families Bulletin Board is beautiful with so many beautiful families filling it up.

Today, Friday, our class was lucky enough to go bowling. We had been practicing for weeks now in adaptive physical education. We had a great time.

Reminder – no school on Tuesday – Election Day.

Gut Shabbos,

The Morahs

Dear Morahs,

I know that Monday is ‘Open Line Day’ at school, so I’ll fill you in on some excitement that you might want to help Moishey tell you about.

Like I’ve said previously, never a dull moment in our home… On Shabbos morning at 7:30 a.m. there was loud banging on our apartment door. I ran in my sleepwear and opened the door to screams of “Fire! Fire! Everybody out!” I ran back toward the bedrooms, hollered on top of my lungs, schlepped the kids outta’ bed and outta’ their rooms and we all ran out in our pjs. Turns out, some plastic items in the shared boiler room in the basement ignited and really started to burn. Boruch Hashem, the fire was put out before it was able to spread or ch’v cause damage. We were all petrified but Moishey was in Gan Eden! We had loads of huge firemen, weighed down by heavy equipment marching up and down, in and out. When things settled down, the firemen all shook hands with Moishey and everybody was all smiles.

Have a great week!
