Up Syndrome
Moishey spent a wonderful Shabbos with two of his Camp HASC counselors while we were participating in a family weekend Simcha. On Motzei Shabbos everybody assembled for hadvallah and the counselor’s brother started to recite the havdallah, albeit a little quickly and with a somewhat different accent than the real ‘chassidish’ that Moishey is so used to from home. The room was quiet as everybody listened intently, when suddenly Moishey blurted out, “You say it in Spanish?!?!”
Thirteen-year-old Chavie was sitting with her teacher, helping Morah fill out her school medical forms. When they reached the question: Are you allergic to anything?, teacher turned to Chavie with a questioning look. Chavie nodded her head emphatically. “Yes, I’m very allergic to peanut butter and ice cream.” The teacher immediately perked up, sensing some medical danger. “Chavie dear, what happens to you when you eat those foods?”, she questioned. Straight-faced, Chavie answered, “I become fat.”
